globeFOX
globeFOX was founded in 2001 to create a content management system and allied services using object oriented database technologies. With more people coming online, we saw that site traffic was key in creating revenue, and the way to generate that was to create strong online communities by attracting users through great content and services, easily searchable and categorised.
With two senior staff members from my division at Computacenter, we put together a VC ready proposal to create an integrated content management platform (CMS) and customer relationship management (CRM) system that would support multiple sites offering user led context driven ecommerce. Sadly just as we were pitching our pilot to High St Retail CEO's at the end of 2001 the worst of the .com crash hit. It later proved to be a blessing in disguise as it would be another another 5 years before the technologies would really be up to the job. The business evolved into producing hand coded and bespoke sites, then ecommerce using software by Actinic and more recently, the CMS Drupal, which we feel finally fulfills the promise of content, community and commerce combined. Though we no longer build enterprise sites commercially ourselves, we continue to research, design and produce user driven content and services.
